The PROJECTED STANDINGS TAB is up and I find it fascinating. During the season the projected standings will use my Power Poll computer rating to forecast the remaining games and update the PROJECTED STANDINGS each week. During the summer I will use the current percentages of the votes on our website poll (roughly 1000 voters from across the country). The voters of the poll have to register with their email address and they get just one vote per month. This helps to cut down on voters stuffing the ballot box and requirers them to put a lot of thought into them as they are trying to win prizes and finish at the top of the polls! The team with the best shot of an unbeaten conference record according to the poll voters is USC. There are 11 teams that the voters have favored in EVERY CONFERENCE game this year. Of the 11 here is how they rank in terms of the closest game forecast for each team: 1. USC (closest game is UCLA where 87% of voters say USC wins). I agree with the voters and think it is a slam dunk that USC goes unbeaten in Pac 10 play as they HOST all of the top contenders and have lost ONE home game over the last 6 years. Also note that Kansas is currently projected to finish at 3-5 in the Big 12 and I just did a radio show on one of the home networks for Jayhawks football and the interviewer agreed with the projected conference record! We will update this every two weeks and it will be interesting to see if Utah can hang onto their 51% to 49% lead over BYU in the Mountain West! If you have not already voted I would love to have you participate. You can vote up to 3 times and we will take your best score of the 3. The first vote closes on July 31st. The second vote is between August 1st and August 15th. The third is from August 16th thru the first game of the year which is on Thursday August 28th. You do not have to enter each time but you have that option. It takes about 5 minutes to vote a conference and once you vote one side the other is automatically registered so by the time you get to the last team all of your votes have been cast. I will update these projected standings every two weeks. Right now there are 11 teams projected to go WINLESS in the their conference. They are Northwestern, Baylor, Vanderbilt, Syracuse, Duke, Wash St, UAB, Rice, UNLV, Idaho and Florida International. Of those teams the one that the voters think has the best chance at a winless conference season is Syracuse as the closest game has 87% of the voters calling for Connecticut to beat them and only 13% saying Syracuse will win while in the other 7 games only 6%, 2%, 10%, 3%, 6% and 0% think the Orange will win. This year the voters so far actually have ONE game where EVERY voter has picked one team to win and that is West Virginia over Syracuse. We have roughly over 1000 voters so far and the July deadline is coming up fast so if you have already voted, double check your votes to make sure that you have voted in every conference. If you missed a conference you probably do not have a shot at winning the title. We will have an early August poll and then one in the final week before the season starts in August so you can have 3 different votes and we only count your BEST score. I find the results of the poll very interesting and share them on the radio shows that I do each day. Next update of the PROJECTED STANDINGS will be on August 1st. STARTER LOST WILL BE UPDATED WEEKLY THIS YEAR We are currently constructing individual team pages for all 120 schools and they will have the game-by-game stats for each player from each game for last year, each game for this year, 20 year NFL draft histories, current stats for each team, box scores for each completed game, the last 11 years stats for each matchup for this year and much, much more. We will also keep track of the starts lost due to injury and suspension for each team and update them on a weekly basis during the season so that you can see which teams are having injury-free seasons and which are the most banged up. I do not believe any other site publishes these statistics and we will have them updated by midweek each week of the year. INJURY UPDATES FOR THE MAGAZINE We wait until all of the spring games are over and do not send the magazine off to the press until the middle of May. Even though we send it so late there are still deletions that happen over the summer with players becoming ineligible, injured, suspended or kicked off the teams. Some teams also have late signees over the summer that are not listed in the magazine. Last year we had the tab updated early and updated it all during the year. This year the tab will be up by the end of the week. You can circle these players in the magazine so you can see at a glance how much attrition a team has suffered during the year (or prior to the year). Check out the 2008 Information Tab on the left hand side of the website daily to see the new things that pop up.
