OTHER INFORMATION

Head Coach - Tony Sparano, 4th year
Prior to MIA, Sparano spent 5 seasons in DAL mainly working as the OL coach. He also served as their run game coordinator and TE’s coach as well for 2 years each. MIA has missed the playoffs the L2Y with 7-9 seasons after a 10 game turnaround in 2008 for their 1st playoff berth since 2001.
Offensive Coordinator - Brian Daboll, 1st year
After 7 years with NE with the L/5 as their WR coach, Daboll served as the NYJ’s QB coach in 2007-’08. In 2009-’10 he was CLE’s OC as the team finished 32nd and 29th on offense avg 260 and 290 ypg and 15.3 and 16.9 ppg respectively. His offenses are known for being efficient and well disciplined.
QB Coach - Karl Dorrell, 4th year
In his 1st 2 years as the WR coach for MIA only 3 players had 600 yds receiving before LY when 3 players surpassed the goal. His specialization is as a WR’s coach but he was also UCLA’s HC from 2003-’07 after being DEN’s WR coach from 2000-’02.
RB Coach - Jeff Nixon, 1st year
After working as the RB coach at Temple in 2006, Nixon worked for PHI as an asst coach from 2007-’10. His focus was mainly special teams and RB’s with the Eagles. He played RB for W Virginia and Penn St in the mid-90’s.
WR Coach - Steve Bush, 4th year
After being the offensive QC coach in 2008-’10, Bush was promoted to WR’s coach for 2011. He was the DB coach for Syracuse in 2000 before being bumped to QB coach in 2001-’04.
OL Coach - Dave DeGuglielmo, 3rd year
DeGuglielmo was the asst OL coach for the NYG in 2004-’08. The Giants allowed 28 or fewer sacks 4 times in that span and MIA allowed 34 sacks in 2009 and 38 in 2010 due to injuries and inconsistent QB play. He coached the OL at SC from ‘99-’03.
Defensive Coordinator - Mike Nolan, 2nd year
Nolan has a total of 13 yrs as a DC along with 55 gms experience as a HC with SF. In ‘09 he improved DEN’s defense from 29th to 7th. LY MIA went from 22nd to 6th on defense finishing in the Top 10 in ypg, ypp, rushing, passing and FD’s per gm all’d.
DL Coach - Kacy Rodgers, 4th year
Rodgers spent 5 yrs (3 coaching DL, 2 DT) w/DAL. He spent 9 yrs as a college DL coach. MIA has earned 40, 44 and 39 sks the L3Y vs 30 in ‘07 and has all’d 105 ypg rush (3.98) on his watch.
Linebackers Coach - Bill Sheridan, 2nd year
After being the Giants LB’s coach from 2005-’08, Sheridan was promoted to DC for 1 year before being released. He joined MIA as their LB coach in 2010 and the Dolphins improved from 24.4 ppg allowed to 20.8.
Assistant HC/Secondary Coach - Todd Bowles, 4th year
In Bowles’ 3 years the Dolphins have finished 25th, 24th and 8th in pass defense with a combined TD/int ratio of 63-44. Prior to the Dolphins he worked with the DAL DB’s (2005-’07) and the CLE DB’s (2001-04).
Special Teams Coach - Darren Rizzi, 3rd year
Rizzi was promoted to STC after being the assistant special teams coach in 2009-10. He was Rhode Island’s HC in 2008 after being Rutgers STC from 2002-07 while working with the RB’s (2002-04) as well as the LB’s (2005-07).
