Head Coach - Sean Payton, 6th year
In 2006 Payton took over as the Saints 14th HC. Offenses that Payton has called the plays for have never finished lower than 13th in total yardage. NO has finished 6th or better in yardage and 12th or better in offensive ppg under Payton. NO has the most regular season wins (53) of any NFC team since Payton took over.
Offensive Coordinator - Pete Carmichael Jr, 6th year (3rd OC)
Carmichael became the OC in 2009 after being the QB coach from 2006-08. He was with SD from 2002-05 as an offensive QC coach/WR’s coach. The Saints have finished 4th or better in passing in the L5Y and they have led the NFL with thirty-seven 300 yd passing games in his tenure.
QB Coach - Joe Lombardi, 5th year
Lombardi was named the QB coach in 2009 after being an offensive asst in 2007-08. He was a defensive asst in ATL in 2006. NO has tallied 67 passing TD’s in Lombardi’s 2 years as QB coach.
RB Coach - Bret Ingalls, 3rd year
Ingalls became the RB coach in 2009 after being the OL coach at Northwestern from 2006-08. NO’s run game improved by 512 yds in 2009 but fell from 6th to 28th in 2010 mostly due to injuries.
WR Coach - Curtis Johnson, 6th year
Johnson was the Miami (Fl) WR coach from 1996-05. Since he joined the Saints in 2006, NO has had forty 100 yd receiving efforts (4th) with a 1,000 yd receiver in 4 out of 5 seasons.
OL Coach - Aaron Kromer, 4th year
Kromer was TB’s OL coach from 2006-07 and was an asst working with the OL there in 2005. He was named the NO RB coach in ‘08 and shifted to OL coach in 2009. The Saints have allowed 46 sks total in the L2Y or 1 for every 26.2 pass att’s.
Defensive Coordinator - Gregg Williams, 3rd year
Williams has 20 years of NFL experience with 3 as a HC (BUF 2001-03) and 10 as a DC (1997-2000 TEN, 2004-07 WAS, JAX 2008). Defenses with Williams as a HC/DC have finished in the top 10 five times in yardage and 12th or better in points allowed 8 times.
DL Coach - Bill Johnson, 3rd year
Johnson was the DL coach in DEN from 2007-08 finishing 30th and 27th in rush defense. He was the Falcons DL coach from 2001-06 with 2 top 10 finishes in rush defense but also four of 21st or lower. NO has allowed eight 100 yd rushers in Johnson’s 2 years as DL coach.
LB Coach/Assistant HC - Joe Vitt, 6th year
After spending 10 seasons with SEA as a defensive ass’t, Vitt was PHI’s LB coach from 1995-98. He was the GB DB coach in 1999 before transferring to KC to head their LB’s from 2000-03. He was with STL in 2004-05 as their LB coach and was also the interim HC for the L/11 games. He took over as NO’s LB coach in 2006 with a LB leading the team in tackles the L3Y.
Secondary Coach - Tony Oden, 6th year
Oden was an ass’t DB coach for HOU in 2004-05. He has been the Saints ass’t DB coach since 2006 and NO’s 28 passing TD’s allowed in 2009-10 is the fewest in the NFL.
Special Teams Coach - Greg McMahon, 6th year
McMahon took control of the ST’s in 2008 after serving as a ST’s assistant in his first 2 years here. The Saints have finished 16th, 28th and 22nd in our rankings over the L3Y.
