Head Coach - Mike Munchak, 15th year (1st as HC)
Munchak was inducted into the Pro Football HOF in 2001 after a 12 year career as an OG for the Oilers (1982-93). From 1997-2010 he served as the Titans OL coach. They allowed an avg of 28.3 sacks with eleven 1,000 yd rushing efforts by 5 different RB’s in that span. He is the 16th HC for the franchise.
Offensive Coordinator - Chris Palmer, 1st year
Palmer is a well regarded OC who specializes in developing QB’s. He was the CLE HC from 1999-2000 before taking the Texans OC job from 2001-05 (ranked 30th or lower in 3Y). He was the DAL QB coach in 2006 and then worked with the Giants from ‘07-‘09 in the same capacity. Palmer spent 2010 in the UFL with the Hartford Colonials before being named the Titans OC.
QB Coach/Passing Game - Dowell Loggains, 1st year
Loggains was a scouting asst for DAL in 2005 before joining TEN. He was a coaching asst in 2007, then an offensive QC for 2008-‘09 for the team. This is his 1st year as a position coach at any level in football.
RB Coach - Jim Skipper, 1st year
Skipper has 32 years of coaching experience with 23 as an NFL RB coach. He was the Panthers RB coach from 2002-10 with 3 finishes in the Top 10 in rushing. CAR logged Forty-seven 100 yd rushing events in that span (50 for TEN).
WR Coach - Dave Ragone, 1st year
Ragone was a 3rd RD DC by the Texans and stayed with the team from 2003-05 under Chris Palmer. His 1st coaching position was with the UFL’s Hartford Colonials in 2010 as their QB coach under Palmer.
OL Coach - Bruce Matthews, 1st year
Matthews was a 19 year OL for the Oilers/Titans who earned 14 consecutive trips to the Pro Bowl and was a 1st ballot inductee to the HOF in 2007. He was an offensive asst for HOU in 2009-10 working mainly with the OL but this is his first job as a position coach at any level.
Defensive Coordinator - Jerry Gray, 1st year
Gray played CB/S for the LA Rams, Oilers and Bucs from 1985-93. He was the secondary coach for SEA’s #27 pass def in 2010 after doing the same for WAS from 2006-09 (23rd, 16th, 7th and T-8th in pass def). Gray was BUF’s DC from 2001-05 with his 2003-04 units finishing 2nd in total defense.
DL Coach - Tracy Rocker, 1st year
Rocker was a 3rd RD DC by WAS in 1989 and played 2 years until a knee injury ended his career. He has 17 years of exp as a college DL coach spending 2009-10 as the DL coach for Auburn.
LB Coach - Frank Bush, 1st year
Bush was drafted by the Oilers in the 5th RD of the 1985 draft. He played 14 games over 2Y before retiring. He is a career LB coach with the Oilers, Broncos, Cardinals. He was with the Texans from 2007-10 as a LB coach for 2 years and a DC for the L/2 as they finished 13th and 30th in total defense.
Secondary Coach - Marcus Robertson, 5th year
Robertson has been with the Titans in some form for 18 years. After working as the TEN Director of Player Develoent from 2003-06 he moved into a secondary asst role in 2007 for 2 years. In 2009 he took over the secondary full time and the Titans finished 31st and 29th in pass defense in his 2 yrs.
Special Teams Coach - Alan Lowry, 16th year
In addition to quality special teams work, Lowry has also been a WR/TE coach in the NFL. Since 2000 he has had five top 5 finishes in our special teams rankings. In 2010 his units went from 25th to 2nd in our rankings for the 7th biggest improvement.
