Head Coach - Todd Haley, 3rd year
Haley is a career WR’s coach from the Bill Parcells coaching tree. In 2007-’08 he was ARZ’s OC after being the WR coach at DAL from 2004-’06 and CHI in 2001-’03. The Cardinals had the #4 and #14 offenses with a trip to SB 43 under Haley. KC improved from the #25 offense in ‘09 to 12th in ‘10.
Offensive Coordinator/OL Coach - Bill Muir, 3rd year (1st as OC)
Muir has been an NFL OL coach since 1982 and has worked with Haley in some capacity for 11 years. From 2002-’08 he was the OL/OC for the Bucs allowing an avg of 36 sacks per year. KC improved from 45 to 32 sacks allowed from 2009-2010. He has also been a DC (IND 1989-’91).
QB Coach - Jim Zorn, 1st year
Zorn was an NFL QB for 11 yrs before moving into coaching. He entered the NFL coaching ranks with SEA as an offensive asst in 1997. He was the QB coach for the Lions from 1998-2000 and the Seahawks from 2001-’07. In 2008 he became the WAS HC with a 12-20 record. He spent 2010 coaching Joe Flacco at BAL before being waived and signed by the Chiefs.
Assistant HC/RB Coach - Maurice Carthon, 3rd year
An 11 year RB/FB in the NFL, Carthon worked as the RB coach for NE (1994-’96) and the Jets (1997-2000). He was the OC for DET (2001-’02), DAL (2003-’04) and CLE (2005-’06). In 2007-2008 he was the ARZ RB coach where they finished 29th and 32nd in rush offense. In 2009 he came to KC as the RB coach where they finished 11th and then 1st LY in rushing.
WR Coach - Richie Anderson, 2nd year
Anderson was a 12 year NFL FB playing in 161 games in his career. He was an asst WR/TE coach with the Jets in 2006. In 2009 he interned with KC in training camp working with the WR unit. He helped Dwayne Bowe earn five 100 yd receiving games in his 1st year as WR coach.
TE Coach - Bernie Parmalee, 2nd year
Parmalee played RB for 9 years for MIA and the Jets playing in 134 games. He was an asst coach for MIA working with the TE’s and special teams from 2002-’04. He then became a special teams asst at Notre Dame for 2005-’06 before being the TE coach from 2007-’09. He joined KC in 2010 with rookie TE Tony Moeaki finishing 2nd with 47 recs.
Defensive Coordinator - Romeo Crennel, 2nd year
Crennel sat out 2009 after being the Browns HC from 2005-’08 with defensive finishes of 16th, 27th, 30th and 26th. A DL coach by trade he was the CLE DC in 2000 and the Patriots DC from 2001-’04. In his 1st year the Chiefs improved from 30th to 14th.
DL Coach - Anthony Pleasant, 2nd year
Pleasant has 14 years experience as a DL playing in 202 games for 6 teams. He interned with KC in 2009 working with the DE’s and was tabbed the DL coach in 2010. In his 1st year KC improved from allowing 157 ypg rush (4.7) to 110 ypg (4.3) going from 31st to 14th.
LB Coach - Gary Gibbs, 3rd year
Gibbs entered the NFL in 2002 as the Cowboys LB coach working there for 4 years. He was the Saints DC from 2006-’08 finishing 11th, 23rd and 28th respectively. He joined KC in 2009 as their LB coach and helped Tamba Hali transition to a 3-4 OLB with 14.5 sacks (#2 NFL) last year.
Defensive Backs Coach - Emmitt Thomas, 2nd year
Thomas entered the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2008 thanks to a 13 year career as a CB for KC. He was ATL’s DB coach from 2002-’09 and has 7 years experience as a DC. In his 1st year KC improved from allowing 7.6 ypa with a 25-15 ratio to 6.5 with a 23-14 ratio.
Special Teams Coach - Steve Hoffman, 3rd year
Hoffman was the Cowboys kicking coach from 1989-2004 and also worked as the offensive or defensive QC coach at times. He was an asst special teams coach for ATL in 2006 and MIA in 2007-’08. In 2009 he took over for KC as their STC with finishes of 19th and 23rd in our rankings.
