Head Coach - Steve Spagnuolo, 3rd year
Spagnuolo entered the NFL in 1999 as a defensive asst/QC for PHI before being promoted to DB coach in 2001. From 2004-’06 he was the Eagles LB coach before moving to the Giants to be their DC. In 2007 the Giants finished 7th in total defense and 17th in ppg. In 2008 they improved to 5th in both categories winning SB XLII by upsetting the undefeated Patriots. In 2009 he became the 23rd HC of the Rams.
Offensive Coordinator/QB coach - Josh McDaniels, 1st year
McDaniels was an asst coach for NE from 2001-’03. In 2004 he became the QB coach and added the OC title after the 2005 season. NE ranked 11th, 1st and 5th offensively in McDaniels’ final 3 years with the team. He was DEN’s HC for 2009-’10 departing with a 12-20 record after a 6-0 start. He will also be the Rams’ QB coach in 2011.
Running Backs Coach - Sylvester Croom, 3rd year
Croom has been an NFL RB coach for 15 years and was the Lions OC from 1997-2000. His units finished 2nd, 14th, 21st and 27th offensively. After 4 years with GB he was Miss St’s HC from 2004-’08 with a 21-38 record. In his 2 years as the STL RB coach they have had eleven 100 yd rushing gms.
Wide Receivers Coach - Nolan Cromwell, 3rd year
Cromwell was a 2nd RD DC by the Rams and played 11 years (1977-’87) as a DB. He was a defensive/ST asst for STL in 1991 before going to GB. He was their STC for 5 years and WR coach for one. He then became SEA’s WR coach from 1999-’07 before taking the Texas A&M OC post for 2 years. In 2010 STL had one 100 yd receiving effort under his guidance.
Offensive Line Coach - Steve Loney, 4th year
Loney was a coach for over 25 years prior to taking a job as the MIN OL coach from 2002-’04. He was their OC in 2005 (#25) then transferred to ARZ as their OL coach in 2006. Loney spent 2007 as Drake’s HC then joined the Rams as their OL coach. In his 3 years STL has avg’d 41 sks allowed or 1 every 13.4 att’s.
Defensive Coordinator - Ken Flajole, 3rd year
Flajole entered the NFL as a defensive QC for GB in 1998 after 20 years in the CFB ranks. He then moved onto SEA where he worked as a DB or LB coach from 1999-2002. From 2003-’08 he was the Panthers LB coach. In 2009 he took over as STL’s DC and they were 29th and 19th in total defense in his 2Y.
Defensive Line Coach - Brendan Daly, 3rd year
Daly was the Vikings DL coach from 2006-’08 where they finished 1st in rush defense for all 3 years. In 2009 he took over as the Rams DL coach and after allowing 138 ypg (4.4), they improved to 113 ypg (4.5) in 2010. 31 of STL’s 43 sacks (72%) were from DL in 2010.
Linebackers Coach - Paul Ferraro, 3rd year
Ferraro entered the NFL as a ST asst/asst strength and conditioning coach for CAR in 2005. From 2006-’08 he was the Vikings STC with our #22, #13 and #29 ranked units. In his first year the Rams LB’s combined for 3 sks and 2 int’s but improved to 7 sacks before regressing (to 1) last year.
Secondary/CB Coach - Clayton Lopez, 3rd year
Lopez coached DB’s for OAK in 2004-’05 having the #30 and #18 pass defenses. He was the DB coach for DET from 2006-’07 (#25, #31) and asst secondary coach in 2008 (#27). In his first year STL finished 25th in pass defense but improved to 19th in 2010.
Special Teams Coordinator - Tom McMahon, 2nd year
McMahon was the Falcons asst STC for 2007-’08 where they finished 13th and 5th in our rankings. In his 1st year with STL in 2009 they were 8th in our rankings but slipped to 20th in 2010. |
